A Blessing Beyond Borders

Project GODA (Gift of Disability Alleviation) stands as a beacon of hope and transformation for countless individuals in Pakistan. A team of orthopedic surgeons from the USA have been providing life-changing, free-of-cost surgeries to those facing physical challenges. Through joint replacements, spinal surgeries, and ACL reconstructions, GODA not only restores mobility but also restores dignity and hope to its recipients.

Unveiling the Hidden Challenge: Disability in Pakistan

Disability in Pakistan remains an unseen but deeply felt struggle affecting people of all ages. Each year, thousands are hindered by the overwhelming burden of arthritis and osteoporosis, where treatment options and resources are limited. Families face emotional turmoil as they confront this harsh reality, seeking hope and support from initiatives like GODA.

2025: Larger Dreams and Aspirations 

In February 2025, a team of dedicated professionals from Project GODA will arrive in 3 different Pakistani cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Muzaffargarh. This talented group of 25 will bring orthopedic equipment, including knee replacements and drill machinery, to perform surgery completely free of cost. Last year, 140+ joint replacement surgeries, 16 spinal surgeries, and 8 ACL reconstruction surgeries occurred. This year, the team plans on performing 300+ joint replacements, 40+ spinal surgeries, and 40+ ACL surgeries.

Now in the 8th year of the initiative, this project continues to epitomize compassion and selflessness beyond borders. The patients are often those who have been waiting for multiple years for life-changing surgery, but cannot afford to pay for a quicker alternative. This highlights the urgent need for specialized care that is both large-scale and affordable.

The GODA program holds a special place in the hearts of Indus Hospital & Health Network’s community as they commit to transforming the lives of underprivileged people. Friends of Indus Hospital wishes them a warm welcome as they arrive to Pakistan next month.
