The Transformative Power of Zakat

Zakat is not only a fundamental aspect of the Muslim faith, but also a powerful tool for transforming lives. Indus Hospital & Health Network showcases firsthand the impact of Zakat on the lives of thousands of patients.

The Power of Zakat

Zakat is more than just a charitable obligation; it is a means of bridging the gap between the haves and have-nots. By giving Zakat, we are not only fulfilling our religious duty but also contributing to the betterment of society. In Pakistan, where millions struggle to access basic healthcare, Zakat is a lifeline for most where countless lives have been transformed.
Patients who were once on the brink of despair have found new hope and healing thanks to the generosity of Zakat donors. From mothers who have received life-saving care during pregnancy to children who have overcome debilitating illnesses, the impact of Zakat is evident in every smile, every laugh, and every life saved.

Muhammad Gazi’s Leap of Faith

In their 70’s, Muhammad Ghazi and his wife live independently in Bhong, Punjab, during their senior years. While visiting his relatives, his niece discussed her visit to Indus Hospital Al-Ghazi Campus, and insisted he visit for an illness he had been facing for many months. He felt a bit hesitant, but was assured it was free of cost. Muhammad Ghazi visited the hospital and went through a routine check-up along with screening tests. With all results complete, the doctor examined them and discovered that he was suffering from Tuberculosis (TB).
His treatment began immediately at the TB Clinic at Bhong Campus, where he was provided medications and mental health counseling. After one month, Muhammad Ghazi’s condition improved as he diligently followed his treatment regime, ensuring he came for his check-ups. He was thankful to Indus Hospital & Health Network for providing free of cost treatment for the underprivileged, as it would have been impossible to afford the treatment otherwise.

Abdul Hadi’s Resilience

Abdul Hadi, a young child, suffered from bouts of fever for months. His mother, Zoobia, grew worried and brought her son to Indus Hospital & Health Network’s Korangi campus in Karachi. A diagnosis was soon made, one his mother could never have imagined. Abdul Hadi has blood cancer, a diagnosis that shattered his family’s world. However, doctors assured them that all treatment was free of cost, as the weight of financial worry lifted off.
Abdul Hadi soon received quality treatment, including a bone marrow transplant, and began to show significant treatment as he regained his energy. It was a blessing that Zoobia hadn’t expected, but one she accepted with immense gratitude. She was incredibly satisfied with the team of doctors, finding strength in their compassionate care. She strongly believes in IHHN’s mission, urging other families to bring their children here and receive the same fair chance at a healthy future as her son did.

From Your Zakat to a Saved Life

Together, we can create a brighter future for all. Charity is a good deed that never ends, as the Prophet (pbuh) said: “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).” (Muslim).

At Indus Hospital Hospital & Health Network, 70% of patients are Zakat eligible and can avail life-changing medical treatments through open-hearted Zakat donations. It plays a significant role in ensuring that IHHN continues to provide 100% free-of-cost healthcare services to all individuals who need it. It is what allows Friends of Indus Hospital to go the extra mile in facilitating all patients and their families with quality treatment procedures and a comfortable environment throughout their time at IHHN.
